Retail is a vital element for modern museums, galleries and attractions, providing an important source of income. Getting it right is equally important, partly in terms of supporting the institutional brand’s high standards, and also enhancing a high-quality visitor experience.
But it is also equally important to ensure that gift shops and other retail spaces are designed and integrated in ways that are sympathetic to the building’s architecture, interior design, ambience and visitor accessibility. Goppion’s considerable experience in the sector means we are very well-versed in the best ways to integrate high-quality retail as part of the public offer.
In addition to working closely with the Library of Congress on the design and exhibit fabrication of the Treasures Gallery and the Universal Cases for rotating exhibits, Goppion has also provided infrastructure for its new gift shop, the Library Store. There, visitors can browse at leisure a wide range of LOC-themed gifts and souvenirs.
In collaboration with Colliers, the renowned retail and hospitality specialist designers, we have provided four glass arches for individual gallery spaces, plus two sales counters, stand signage, a display table and scaffold structure.
These elements are combined to enhance the reimagined gift shop space at LOC, welcoming visitors to a bright and elegant environment that feels very much part of the beautiful Jefferson Building.
