The Metropolitan Museum of Art Unveils Newly Reimagined Michael C. Rockefeller Wing

On May 31, 2025, The Metropolitan Museum of Art unveils a newly reimagined Michael C. Rockefeller Wing, which houses the esteemed arts of Africa, the Ancient Americas, and Oceania.

Goppion has been privileged to contribute to the significant renovation. With exhibition design by Kulapat Yantrasast of WHY Architecture, this project elevates the preservation and display of nearly 1,800 culturally significant works with cutting-edge design approaches.

Goppion engineered 282 custom display cases, ranging from monumental freestanding units to versatile wall-mounted models, all designed to be airtight, but can also allow airflow if needed. This project highlights our commitment to integrating advanced museum technology with historical collections, improving legibility and interactivity within the space, and celebrating a diverse cultural heritage.

As The New York Times writes, “The Most Wondrous Art in the World” is now on view—more legible, luminous, and engaging than ever before. Read the full review on the New York times here.

We extend our sincere congratulations to The Met on this significant and inspiring project!
