The Louvre-Lens celebrates 10 years

In December 2012, the Louvre-Lens was officially inaugurated. Interacting closely with SANAA’S unique architecture and Studio Adrien Gardère's sophisticated minimalist exhibition design, Goppion created all the display units for the museum, a total of 242 elements, including display cases, furniture, tables and supports. In her following words, Claudia Ferrazzi reminds us of the excitement and pride we felt about the project. We will never forget the visit to our workshop with Kazuyo Sejima, Adrien Gardere, Henry Loyrette , Claudia Ferrazzi, Valérie Forey and the team from the Louvre, to collaborate on the creation of every detail of the exhibition. We too love to create lasting projects.

“ After the official visits, I remember shivering with cold and emotion, that December 4, 2012, a few minutes before 7pm.
I was waiting for the first "real" visitors to the Louvre-Lens, a few meters from the garden, as one does when waiting for a distinguished guest. There were 4500 of them that evening and they had waited for up to two hours in the cold.
I have the feeling that I can see their faces again, that I can still enjoy their wonderment when they walked through the door. I remember how proud I was to have taken part in the birth of this museum, which they would now make their own.
Today, the Louvre-Lens is 10 years old. It was a unique opportunity for the Louvre to achieve what is impossible in Paris.
The vision and strength of Henri Loyrette, who put his entire team at the service of coordinating the Louvre's eight departments to make this possible. His ability to attract the greatest talents in all the disciplines that this extraordinary project required, and with whom I was fortunate enough to work throughout this adventure: the Saana agency, Kazuyo Sejima, Adrien Gardere.
The intuition and will of Jean-Luc Martinez and Vincent Pomarede, inventors of the Galerie du Temps, dazzling in its simplicity, showing what humanity is capable of. I have said to myself a thousand times, with them, that it is so difficult to do simple. We wanted to make it child's play to embrace the history of art with a single glance.
The complicity and the unfailing mutual aid with Hervé Barbaret, Valérie Forey, Catherine Ferrar, Xavier Dectot. The benevolent support to those who came after, and who so brilliantly took over, Marie Lavandier, Brice Mathieu. Recognition for those who have gone before and shown the way, Daniel Percheron, Catherine Sueur.
When I think of the Louvre-Lens today, I am reminded of what I love in life: designing and carrying out projects that last.

En décembre 2012, le Louvre-Lens a été officiellement inauguré. Interagissant étroitement avec l'architecture unique de SANAA et la conception d'exposition minimaliste et sophistiquée du Studio Adrien Gardère, Goppion a créé tous les présentoirs du musée, soit un total de 242 éléments, dont des vitrines, des meubles, des tables et des supports. Dans les mots qui suivent, Claudia Ferrazzi nous rappelle l'excitation et la fierté que nous avons ressenties face à ce projet. Nous n'oublierons jamais la visite dans notre atelier de Kazuyo Sejima, Adrien Gardere, Henry Loyrette, Claudia Ferrazzi, Valérie Forey et l'équipe du Louvre, pour collaborer à la création de chaque détail de l'exposition. Nous aussi, nous aimons créer des projets durables.

" Après les visites officielles, je me souviens avoir frissonné de froid et d'émotion, ce 4 décembre 2012, quelques minutes avant 19h.
J'attendais les premiers "vrais" visiteurs du Louvre-Lens, à quelques mètres du jardin, comme on le fait lorsqu'on attend un invité de marque. Ils étaient 4500 ce soir-là et avaient attendu jusqu'à deux heures dans le froid.
J'ai l'impression de revoir leurs visages, de pouvoir encore apprécier leur émerveillement lorsqu'ils ont franchi la porte. Je me souviens de ma fierté d'avoir participé à la naissance de ce musée, qu'ils allaient désormais s'approprier.
Aujourd'hui, le Louvre-Lens a 10 ans. C'était une occasion unique pour le Louvre de réaliser ce qui est impossible à Paris.
La vision et la force d'Henri Loyrette, qui a mis toute son équipe au service de la coordination des huit départements du Louvre pour rendre cela possible. Sa capacité à attirer les plus grands talents dans toutes les disciplines que nécessitait ce projet extraordinaire, et avec lesquels j'ai eu la chance de travailler tout au long de cette aventure : l'agence Saana, Kazuyo Sejima, Adrien Gardere.
L'intuition et la volonté de Jean-Luc Martinez et Vincent Pomarede, inventeurs de la Galerie du Temps, éblouissante de simplicité, montrant ce dont l'humanité est capable. Je me suis dit mille fois, avec eux, qu'il est si difficile de faire simple. Nous avons voulu que ce soit un jeu d'enfant d'embrasser l'histoire de l'art d'un seul regard.
La complicité et l'entraide sans faille avec Hervé Barbaret, Valérie Forey, Catherine Ferrar, Xavier Dectot. Le soutien bienveillant à ceux qui sont venus après, et qui ont si brillamment pris la relève, Marie Lavandier, Brice Mathieu. La reconnaissance à ceux qui ont précédé et montré la voie, Daniel Percheron, Catherine Sueur.
Quand je pense au Louvre-Lens aujourd'hui, je me souviens de ce que j'aime dans la vie : concevoir et réaliser des projets qui durent.
