From 14 November 2025 to 16 January 2026, the Borso d’Este Bible, the most exquisite masterpiece of Italian Renaissance manuscript art (1455–1461), will be on display in the Sala Capitolare of the Italian Senate. For this exceptional occasion, the manuscript will be presented inside a high-conservation Goppion showcase, specially designed to ensure microclimatic stability, absolute protection, and perfect visual clarity.

Alessandra Necci, director of Gallerie Estense in Modena, where the Bible is usually kept, describes it as the “Mona Lisa of illuminated manuscripts” because of its exquisite artistry and religious inspiration.

Developed in collaboration with the Gallerie Estensi and the Biblioteca Estense Universitaria of Modena, the case represents the highest standards of preventive conservation. Conceived as a Class Q free-standing display case, it features a pull-and-slide opening system, anti-reflective glass, and a finely crafted powder-coated metal base. Inside, a drawer containing hygroscopic materials maintains passive humidity control, ensuring the long-term preservation of the manuscript. The result is a perfect synthesis of engineering precision, aesthetic refinement, and conservation expertise.

The exhibition, promoted by the Italian Senate, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and the Ministry of Culture, is part of the Jubilee celebrations and offers a rare opportunity to admire a true national treasure. The Borso d’Este Bible is shown to the public only on the most exceptional occasions, making this event a unique encounter between art, history, and the excellence of Italian craftsmanship.

With this project, Goppion reaffirms its mission to protect and enhance cultural heritage, bringing together advanced technology and artisanal mastery.
