Porto Ercole: Exhibition on Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, “Chiuder la vita”

19 Jul 2010

“From July 18th to August 18th 2010 the Church of Sant’Erasmo in Porto Ercole will be hosting the exhibition on Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio entitled “Chiuder la vita”. The exhibition, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, by the Council of Monte Argentario and by ENI, is open to the public free of charge for the entire duration of the exhibition. The protagonist of the exhibition is the extraordinary Saint John the Baptist from the Borghese Gallery in Rome, a work of art unanimously recognised by critics as belonging to the precious shipload. The painting will be placed in a special climatised crystal glass case created by the Goppion Laboratorio Museotecnico and is illuminated in such a way as to allow the public to admire it from close-up in all its beauty”.
