IBM System One Installation at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Project Update – 18 Jan 2024

It was an exciting week at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, as the first IBM Quantum System One on a university campus was installed in the Voorhees Computing Center. Formerly a chapel, installation into the elaborately decorated historic building was tricky – there were no doors that could accommodate the 3m x 3m glass panels that enclose and protect the computer. A delicate and complicated rigging procedure involving scaffolding, two cranes and highly skilled technicians successfully brought the glass into the building through a window barely larger than the glass itself. It is exciting to be involved in another IBM quantum project.

Goppion showcases also protect IBM Quantum System One installations at special data centers in Germany, The University of Tokyo in Japan, The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Quebec's Innovation Zones in Bromont.
