Goppion collaborates with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, New York, in the creation of a new permanent exhibit

New York, USA – October 20th, 2010 – Goppion is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Infinity of Nations exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) in New York City. We are proud to have been chosen by the Smithsonian to participate in the design and construction of the spectacular conservation and display casework for this exceptionally important cultural collection.

The NMAI’s mission is to expand public awareness and appreciation of the culture of America’s native people. With a collection of 825,000 objects representing over 1,200 indigenous groups extending from Canada, the U.S., Mexico, South America and the Caribbean, the museum retraces the 12,000 year history and culture of these peoples.

This mission is exemplified by the new permanent exhibition Infinity of Nations that highlights a selection of 700 artworks including many superb examples being shown to the public for the first time. Goppion collaborated extensively with the NMAI and the renowned architect/designer, Imrey Culbert LLP, to develop a display environment that will house and preserve this beautiful collection perfectly.
