FX International Interior Design Awards 2006

Thanks to the Ardabil Carpet display case, designed for the Jameel Gallery at Victoria & Albert Museum of London, Laboratorio museotecnico Goppion and Softroom received the FX International Interior Design Awards 2006 for the category Commercial Fixture, Fitting or Accessory. The prize is attributed by a selected jury from FX Magazine, specialized in providing essential information for the design community. The FX Award received by Goppion and Softroom was to honour the display case, expressly created to protect the 1539 Ardabil Carpet – the world’s oldest dated carpet. The display case is a triumph of practicality and great design and the judges felt that Softroom and Laboratorio museotecnico Goppion had found the perfect compromise between protection and ease of access, while still offering the visitor maximum visibility. The jury liked the way that together with the emphasis on the horizontal line of the canopy above and the continuous stone floor, it helps to create the illusion for the visitor of the carpet being on open display in the gallery.
