ALMA Project Brings Art to Prisons

16 Mar 2023

The Corte Sconta Cultural Association presents ALMA, a project to bring art to spaces typically deprived of beauty, places of isolation and hardship, such as prisons. The purpose of Corte Sconta's project, made possible by the Fondazione di Comunità Milano, is to make works of art accessible to individuals excluded from public events for physical, psychological or criminal reasons.

Goppion joined the project by donating two showcases to display works of art at the Opera penitentiary in Milan. The showcases will display two beautiful mixed media paintings by Italian artist Enrico Baj (1924 - 2003) which will be on display at the prison beginning on March 21. This will give inmates the possibility of experiencing the works of an internationally renowned artist who expressed strong sense of civic engagement, thus providing a glimpse of freedom and possibility even for those who live in confinement.

The initiative will conclude in the fall, with the exhibition of all the works from the project at Fabbrica del Vapore, at the Corte Sconta headquarters.
