Designed by Aldo Aymonino for the MAXXI, table display cases for temporary exhibitions, in modular versions and supported by steel sheets like pieces of origami. The new glass cabinets will be on display in Rome from May 27th onwards.
The museum dedicated to the art of the 21st century, designed by the Pritzker prize winner, Zaha Hadid, opens on May 27th with a retrospective exhibition on the architect Luigi Moretti. The special table display cases to be used in this exhibition have been created by Goppion Laboratorio museotecnico. The units, supported by thin, folded steel sheets have been created by Aldo Aymonino and developed by the technicians of the Laboratorio. They will be on display in Rome from mid-May onwards and will remain at the museum for future temporary exhibitions.
The stackable bases, the high level mechanical performance of the glass cabinets and the sides of the units (which can be disassembled, enabling the units to be used in a modular fashion), have come together to create a product that is characterised by its high level of versatility that has rarely been seen before - technology and creativity representing the state of the art of contemporary exhibit design.
